Welcome to the Legion of the Common Man

Welcome Government Monitors and Socialist Activists

Please have a look around the Legion of the Common Man website and see how the first amendment of the constitution is embraced. Ideas expressed here may or may not be in line with the agenda of the current administration, but that is okay, not to mention legal. All opinions and articles here are based on facts and most have references sited in them.

The Legion of the Common Man does not adhere to the idea that, “dissent is patriotic”. That was the catch phrase of Liberal activists that hated our last president based on his political party affiliation. This has been proven because the current administration, from the other party, is spending just as much money on the same wars on the same fronts with no indication of changing course and is funding his even more expensive agenda on credit. So much for change we need other than a president with an (R) after his name has just been swapped out for a more eloquent speaking (D).

It is the opinion of The Legion of the Common Man that the American spirit is one of individual liberty and independence. The federal government is essential for national defense and providing adequate highways for interstate commerce, these tasks are on the very short list of what they should be focusing on. They do not need to spend our tax dollars like drunken sailors, dictate what type of cars people should drive, train us how to raise our children, or otherwise interfere in our daily lives.

WHAT THE LEGION OF THE COMMON MAN IS ALL ABOUT

If firepower is not a barrage of bullets heading toward the enemy, but bullets hitting bodies it makes sense to say political power is not simply voting but being informed enough to address the issues at hand.

In our society today it is extremely difficult to stay on top of the issues. We actually have to work for a living and can't dedicate the time to do our own research to get past the media bias and translate the "legalese" bills are written in.

The mission of the Legion of the Common Man is to stay on top of what our elected officials are up to since they routinely demonstrate they cannot be trusted. A simple explanation of what they are doing or proposing along with references so you can see for yourself will be provided. Form letters regarding issues will be available for you to print, or copy and paste, and send to your representative so you can take a stand on an issue. Well placed letters from constituents will be our way to assert the will of the common citizen between elections.

The political opinions of the Legion of the Common Man regarding how to get
America back on track are based on the following ideas:
Recruit people to register as Independents. Why should we be independent of political parties? We should get away from the party system because it does not serve the common citizen. George W. (Washington that is) was right in his farewell address when he warned of the dangers of political parties. They open our country to foreign influence and they don't really serve the people or really get anything accomplished because all they do is struggle for power. Look at what is going on right now, one party blames the other party for every problem we have and nothing gets fixed. What do Presidents Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Obama have in common? They are owned by the Saudis. Watch the interactions and follow the money. The Bush family and the Saudi Royal family are very close, Saudis made huge contributions to the Clinton Library, and there were millions of dollars donated to the Obama campaign with prepaid credit cards from Saudi Arabia. The Obama donations were all of a low enough amount, individually, that they did not need to have a name attached to them. That does not change the fact that millions of dollars were donated online from Saudi Arabian IP addresses.
If Democrats and Republicans are not going to represent and serve the American people and have abandoned their base it is time to send them a message and abandon the parties allowing for real change and progress instead of catch phrases.

Welfare is modern day slavery.
The system is set up to keep people dependent on it, third generation welfare recipients are a great example of this. Welfare benefits to not taper down as a person's means increase. Consider this true story. A single mother of two was attending nursing school and working in a restaurant full time. She was offered a promotion at work for her good performance but had to turn it down. The reason was that the pay increase was just high enough that she would no longer be eligible for the child care subsidy she received ultimately reducing her net income by several hundred dollars a month. Fortunately she continued on with her education and was able to free herself from government assistance.
In addition to the financial entrapment of welfare Socialist politicians talk about helping the poor and manipulate the welfare system to make welfare recipients vote for them. Modern welfare is not about helping people. It is only about control and keeping political power.

Welfare recipients should not be allowed to vote.
The use of welfare recipients to keep Socialist politicians in power has been established, look at the 2008 presidential election. It is also human nature to take the path of least resistance so if a person is given the opportunity to vote themselves a pay raise instead of actually work of course they will. This idea does not apply to all aid programs, such as temporary programs like WIC. Once the individual is off welfare for a period of one year they should be allowed to register to vote again.

Domestic oil production, offshore or in
Alaska, is a step toward energy independence. Decisions limiting domestic oil production claiming it will give us energy independence is treasonous. It gives more American dollars and control to OPEC, it increases the financial burden of the American people. Higher fuel costs might increase the use of public transportation but it also increases the cost of all goods and services, sure individuals may drive less but they shouldn't be have to eat less. Energy independence doesn't need to be achieved by measures that punish our entire society. Significant tax breaks to automakers is a better faster way. If all money spent on research and development of vehicles getting 40 or more miles per gallon of fuel or alternative fuel vehicles was a tax write off  and profits made from the sale of those vehicles was not taxed you would see dramatic changes in a short time period.

Man made climate change is a lie. It is an instrument of control and a way to make money. As the planet moves around in the universe it heats and cools. The sun has cycles of higher and lower radiation output causing the Earth to heat and cool, There is scientific proof of ice ages, were are not currently in one nor were we when the internal combustion engine was invented this would indicate there is a natural cycle of global warming. Now, surface temperatures do increase as cities grow because of asphalt and concrete holding in heat but not because of the cars driving on top of them.

Environmental protection is important and pollution can be very hazardous to human beings. That being said, environmental protection regulations should be based on protecting human life and should not make our quality of life suffer.

Secured borders are humane borders. Every year dozens of illegal aliens die in the southwestern deserts of the United States because the border is not secured. These poor people are packed in vehicles in northern Mexico and taken just across the border where they are dumped out without adequate food and water for the long trek to the nearest city. They are robbed, raped, and murdered by border bandits. They die of heat exhaustion, and other preventable causes, many of the dead are women and children. If the border was properly secured and they were not able to sneak in to the United States it would eliminate or greatly reduce this unnecessary human suffering.

17 August 2009

We are once again falling victim to the damage done by political parties in the United States. This time however, it is not quite like George Washington explained it in his farewell address. http://www.earlyamerica.com/earlyamerica/milestones/farewell/text.html  In the past the Democrats have bickered with Republicans and have blamed them for their inability to further their agenda. Now they have the majority and are still unable to further their agenda and they have turned to a new political piñata. Lately their rhetoric has been focusing more and more on a new target, the American people.

The Democratic majority has been working tirelessly to force the most dangerous legislation since the Patriot Act on the American people. In the past they have blamed the Republicans when they were unable to advance their agenda, but now with such little opposition in the House and Senate they are starting to see the will of the people as the enemy.

The current government has been far too aggressive making change and it looks reckless to those who pay attention. With the current legislative blitzkrieg by Rahm Emanuel, President Obama, and a majority in the House and Senate we are dangerously close to a one party system and the people are scared, as they should be. Citizens see that they do not have a representative representing their best interests, or even reading the bills before they vote. They recognize that a nationalized healthcare plan gives the government far too much control over their lives.

There is also a legitimate fear of unread piggyback bills that could be part of thousand page bills that representatives vote yes on because President Obama said it is so important. The American People recognize that the economic stimulus package is wasteful, not helping economic recovery, and unemployment is higher than the president said it would be. Trust is becoming a major issue in our relationship with the government.

Now considering the situation and the American spirit, how could anybody imagine something other than voters contacting their representatives and confronting them at town hall meetings? The Declaration of Independence says that the government is instituted by the people, and derives its power from the people. This means that the government does not know better than the people. Between the power given to the citizens in the Declaration of Independence and the rights granted to us in the Constitution of the United States, it is the inalienable right of the citizenry to speak out when they believe their best interests are not being represented.

Now, some politicians, such as Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have called the people who do not fall in line with the party agenda, “political terrorists, evil-mongers, and brown shirts.” There is a problem here. When a private citizen says something it is an opinion. When an elected official says something to the media it is policy. That is why military members are required to speak to their unit’s public affairs office before speaking to the media and are told what they can and cannot talk about. It is not because their freedom of speech is being curtailed, it is because while in uniform they represent the US Government and their opinions as private citizens may not reflect the opinions and policies of the government.

It has now become the policy of many representatives to distance themselves from their constituents because they may have different opinions and are willing to express them. Some representatives have strong arm security on site to remove people who try to bring up difficult topics and do not allow them to run the meeting like a presidential press conference with screened journalists and scripted questions. Rep. Marcia Fudge town hall meeting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWrKbJIqM5U

Rep. Brian Baird is currently only holding town hall meetings by telephone with a secretive schedule to prevent “extremists” from having the opportunity to shout and make youtube videos about it. http://columbian.com/article/20090806/NEWS02/708069952

Rep. Baron Hill of Indiana is not holding town hall meetings either. In fact on more than one occasion he has gone on the record calling those who protest nationalized healthcare, “political terrorists.” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoF5qfbnxec and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQ6Ga8urR7s He refers to confronting your representative as, blowing up, a meeting.

This is extremely dangerous rhetoric. It is the policy of our representatives that those who oppose the agenda of the American Marxist Revolution are enemies of the state. They did not use the words enemies of the state, but the word terrorist has been used. The word terrorist is considered to be so vile that the presidential administration does not even want members of the Taliban and al Qaeda, whom we are at war with and kill every day, to be called terrorists. However it is becoming policy to call those who stand up and question their elected representatives, “terrorists.”

The Federal Bureau of Investigation defines terrorism as:

The unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a Government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives

The Department of Defense Dictionary of Military Terms defines terrorism as:

The calculated use of unlawful violence or threat of unlawful violence to inculcate fear; intended to coerce or to intimidate governments or societies in the pursuit of goals that are generally political, religious, or ideological.

What is happening at town hall meetings around the country is not terrorism. The attacks on 11 September 2001 were terrorism, innocent civilians were specifically targeted. Terrorists attack civilians to cause political change by making the people change the government. What we are seeing now is Americans telling their elected officials what they want them to do, which is the American way. Who would have ever imagined that those who exercise their right to peacefully assemble and speak freely would receive a more despicable label than those who hijack and intentionally ram aircraft into buildings, or brutally decapitate the unarmed and innocent? At the time this article was written no elected officials have been assaulted or harmed in any way.

Nancy Pelosi said in 2006 that she was a fan of disruptors, when speaking of anti-war protestors. http://www.breitbart.tv/06-flashback-pelosi-tells-anti-war-protesters-im-a-fan-of-disruptors/ Now she calls healthcare critics “Un-American.”  http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/08/10/tight-spot-pelosi-calls-health-care-critics-american/

Even our president is participating in this rhetorical government assault against the citizens. He has slammed the media for covering the “ruckus” at the town hall meetings. http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=CNG.228e42c5948115405d6f3ec5d1ad6b50.1a1&show_article=1  What is he thinking? The media created Barack Obama. He was just another junior senator before they launched him to the rock star status that won the election for him.  When you consider that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez criticized Obama for perusing his agenda too aggressively it is easy to understand why people are speaking out while they still have a voice. While they do speak out the president is taking his shots at them. Conservative talk show hosts Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck have been in Obama’s crosshairs.

Regardless of whether you like or agree with these talk show hosts, they do have the right to say what they want, the Constitution says so. As a professor of constitutional law one would expect the president to respect that right and quietly disagree with them instead of attack them on the record. Once again, politicians on the record make policy.

When their message is still not popular when they have no political opposition perhaps the party should change their message rather than lash out at the population.

This leads us to the Cold War theory of domestic tranquility which will be examined in an upcoming article.
